A Camping Checklist For Comfortable BeddingHave a camping checklist for your bedding means you will never forget an important part of your bedding and end up cold or on the hard ground.> When I first began camping, my bedding consisted of an air mattress covered by a matching set of a flat and fitted sheet with a comforter that I designated strictly for camping use. My made bed in my tent sure felt cozy and looked good too! At that time, as a single mom doing a lot of family camping with my two young children we all shared one queen-sized mattress and this was enough for us. As I began to camp more and more, I slowly began investing in sleeping bags for us. Each campout I would buy one, until we had what we needed. Now we don't even bring the sheets and comforter (although I still think they look nicer!). We bring one sleeping bag per person, and an extra blanket per person in case it gets cool (usually the kids like a blanket and pillow in the car when we travel anyway, so we just use that). The sleeping bag goes right on top of the air mattress, along with the pillow. I fold up the extra blanket at the foot of the bed so whoever wants it can easily pull it right up over them in the middle of the night. If you are just starting out, your sheets and comforter don't have to match and you don't need to invest in sleeping bags for the whole family. Bring what you have. And of course, you don't need an air mattress, a cot, and a sleeping pad. One out of the three will be enough.
